The Children's Museum benefits by associating with the Heritage Research Centre, where scientists conduct research in archaeology, anthropology, history and past environments.
The Sharma Centre for Heritage Education has over a decade of research expertise and will be an essential part of the Kolam experience.
Research experience in archaeology, excavations at the Palaeolithic (Stone Age) site of Attiramapakkam, studies of prehistoric cultures and past environments in Tamil Nadu, ethnoarchaeological work with hunter-gatherers and shifting cultivators, investigations into the history of Indian archaeology, close links with scientists in India and abroad-all this and more makes the Sharma Centre a valuable addition to Kolam.
Children will get a chance to interact with scientists and learn the process of scientific enquiry. The Sharma Center's programs for teaching archaeology to children and the community will help build up the foundations of communications between scientists and children.
Ongoing research and new developments will help children and teachers increase their general knowledge of the world around them, much faster than any textbook learning can achieve.
